What to wear is such a personal thing that I am always reluctant to comment. Wear what ever makes you happy and shows the real you. All in black and all in white can be beautiful but to bring out your true personalities the best rule is be true to yourself and your families style. There are a few “what NOT to wear” rules. These are mainly because they do not photograph well. No character shirts, big logos, stained or wrinkled clothes (those last two are for the high school boys). On older kids and adults I would avoid shorts. I’m not a fan of stiff formal clothes that are uncomfortable. Kids don’t have fun when they are uncomfortable. When in a group, it is best to stay in the same tones. You do not have to match but avoid contrasting colors and tones. The lightest color in the photo will draw your eye to it first.
Somewhere in my travels I found this great list of shopping options and after shopping through them I think they are a perfect sources for shopping and inspiration.
Keep in mind you want to keep the focus on the child and his/her personality. If that is a pair of jeans and a plain white T or a frilly Cinderella dress it’s up to you.
