Roeckell Photography bio picture
  • Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my new blog site. Web site...Blog site, what's the difference? Well, think of the website as a portfolio and the blog as a living, breathing, visual conversation about the latest works from Roeckell Photography.

I am a photographer, located in Barrington, Illinois, specializing in contemporary lifestyle and portrait photography of children, babies, newborns, maternity and families. I am also available for commercial work and travel. Much of my work is done on location utilizing the beautiful hues of natural light, however I do have a large studio in my home.

I believe the secret to amazing photos that speak to your heart is allowing the children to be at ease. I let them be themselves in a fun environment were they are free to run, play, snuggle and once in a while stop to pose. My goal is that the images you receive will reveal the true spirit that makes your loved ones unique.

Sit back, relax and enjoy scrolling through the images. Leave a comment! I enjoy seeing what you have to say. Feel free to send me an email or visit me on facebook if you have any questions.

It's great to see you here. Thanks for supporting Roeckell Photography.

Best of Winter Barrington Chicago Photographer

I cannot wait to deliver the finished products to the B family.  The walls in their beautiful home will be richly decorated with their most prized posessions, their kids! These are just a few of the images they will hang.

I am so excited to show them the custom photo box which houses 15 of their photo selections mounted beautifully.  The box comes with a complimentary easel to display one or several images.  It’s the perfect option for homes that have limited wall space or if you just can’t decide on which images to hang and want to display them all. Change the images out reguraly for an ever changing display.  Your life is art !

MY MUSE

February already? Valentine’s Day …yikes!   Inspired by Valentine’s Day and by a project I’m working on…(yes, most creative types with ADD have their hands in several pots…guilty) I took these photos. The project is MCP Project 52, a group of photographers who post one photo a week that fits with the theme that the (sometimes crazy) moderator comes up with.  It is humbling to see how some people interpret the theme.  This weeks theme is MUSE.  I am using photos of my own family for this project so at the end of the year I will have an awesome coffee table book.  I chose the second one.

Thanks for checking this out.  Hope this inspires you to take photos and see usual things in an unusual way!

Twice the Fun/Barrington Photographer

The Mom I worked with today illustrates the meaning of being generous, compassionate and loving. She has SIX lovely boys.  She volunteers and runs school functions with military precision and a gentle carefree nature.   It’s easy to sign up to help a cause when you see that this Mom is running the show. Did I mention SIX boys? Ok, that’s enough right !  NOPE, in her spare time she has opened her home to two little boys, twins, who from birth needed the love and compassion only someone like this Mom could give.

These LUCKY little guys have no idea that they have  already won the lottery when they were handed to this Mom. She not only has cared for them and loved them but has kept a journal every day of their little lives including photos.  She want’s them to never question what their path was from the beginning.

I am lucky too because I got to photograph them so they could go to their new family with beautiful photos to mark the big occasion.

With Child… Barrington/Chicago photographer

You would have to see it to believe it!  Now that  this sweet baby has come into the world, Mom can’t believe she was ever this big.  Big is a relative term of course.  Having had four babies myself I made this mommy look tiny.  At close to nine months pregnant she had the stamina to swing and hoof it through the park with four inch heals. One last reason to admire or envy… no make up, air dried hair and not one stroke of photoshop on her perfect skin. Even her belly!
