Roeckell Photography bio picture
  • Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my new blog site. Web site...Blog site, what's the difference? Well, think of the website as a portfolio and the blog as a living, breathing, visual conversation about the latest works from Roeckell Photography.

I am a photographer, located in Barrington, Illinois, specializing in contemporary lifestyle and portrait photography of children, babies, newborns, maternity and families. I am also available for commercial work and travel. Much of my work is done on location utilizing the beautiful hues of natural light, however I do have a large studio in my home.

I believe the secret to amazing photos that speak to your heart is allowing the children to be at ease. I let them be themselves in a fun environment were they are free to run, play, snuggle and once in a while stop to pose. My goal is that the images you receive will reveal the true spirit that makes your loved ones unique.

Sit back, relax and enjoy scrolling through the images. Leave a comment! I enjoy seeing what you have to say. Feel free to send me an email or visit me on facebook if you have any questions.

It's great to see you here. Thanks for supporting Roeckell Photography.

Apple Picking

A visit to the apple orchard is always one of the highlights of fall. Doing it with a bus load of kindergartners is priceless. Their excitement about picking their own apples and getting to eat them right off the tree was off the chart.  Hanging out with five year olds is just…FUN!   We recommend the honey crisp apples this year.  YUM!

Welcome to my new home!

Finally, I have time to sort through the images taken during our shoots at learnfest in Atlanta GA. Can’t believe it was four weeks ago. I wanted to get my new blog up and running to show you these.  The last few weeks have been a blur so watch for several posts coming soon. The children that modeled for Audrey and Tamera were darling. I am busy looking for a hotel lobby in my area with the same great sky lighting and white marble floors.

Sleepy Baby

I had such a nice time photographing this sweet tiny baby. None of mine were ever this small. Only 5 pounds of pure joy. Mom was a little worried that she was not as “regular” as she should be. No worries, as soon as she was undressed she relieved her self of any backups. I couldn’t help but laugh. Baby K was so pleased with herself and relaxed we were able to work with her all morning. I can’t wait to photograph her again.

Just returned from four days in Atlanta learning from four of the industry’s most successful and talented children’s photographers. It was an amazing experience that I know will shape the future of Roeckell Photography. This is just one quick photo of one of the adorable models we had the chance to work with. The next photo is the vineyard where we stayed…yes, as wonderful as it looks. I will post more soon, after catching up on sleep, family and clients who are patiently waiting. Thanks for hanging with me.
